Choosing organic certified food is not only a sustainable food option but is much healthier for you as well.  Even better, many of these certifying bodies also work to provide safer and more fair conditions for farmers and workers as well as organic food production methods.

  • Only products with organic content that is greater than or equal to 95% may be labeled as "Organic" or bear the organic logo.
  • Certified organic products must also bear the name of the certification body that has certified the product as organic

The Canadian Organic Logo symbolizes products that are organic certified by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The process to becoming certified as an organic producer takes on average 3 – 4 years.

Ecocert Ecocert contributed to the expansion of organic farming in the 1990s by helping to draw up French and European regulations. Still very involved in promoting organic farming, Ecocert today works with French and international institutions in supporting project development. By winning the confidence of professionals and consumers, Ecocert has become a benchmark in organic certification worldwide.

Pro-Cert provides professional third party certification to producers, processors, handlers and traders of organic products across North America. Pro-Cert certified organic products promote consumer confidence on a global scale.

CSI As an independent, not-for-profit organization, CSI is able to offer programs and services to augment and support the work of regulatory officials, including standards development, and certification system development. CSI has extensive experience in designing programs that have been accepted by Canadian regulatory authorities. The last project was working with the Canadian Grain Commission to develop their identity preserved recognition system.
COR COR is the kosher certification trademark used by the Kashruth Council of Canada, the largest kosher certification agency in Canada. COR has been servicing the Canadian food industry for over 65 years and now certifies 70,000 products at approximately1000 facilities across Canada and around the world. COR employs a team of talented inspectors and rabbinic coordinators who are experts in the intricacies of modern food production as well as the specifics of Jewish law. The COR inspectors and rabbinic coordinators work in conjunction with food manufacturers and food service establishments to ensure that food which is COR certified complies with the highest kosher dietary standards.
BPA BPA is widely used in the protective liners of cans to maintain the quality of canned foods and beverages. Some research has shown that BPA can seep into food or beverages from containers that are made with BPA. To avoid this seek out cans that are marked with the BPA Free logo.

USDA Organic USDA Organic is a labeling term that indicates that the food or other agricultural product has been produced through approved methods that integrate cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity.
